Raise The Rainbow
For Raise The Rainbow, a mile-long Rainbow Flag that weighed 7,000 pounds and that used 17,000 yards of fabric to assemble was sewn by Gilbert Baker, the original creator of the Rainbow Flag. The flag, carried by more than 10,000 marchers was carried through Manhattan to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall rebellion.
The event, sponsored by the Stadtlanders Foundation, raised money for AIDS organizations nationwide. Alan Klein was hired by Stadtlanders to promote this historic event that garnered worldwide news coverage.
